Cook Islands Motor Centre are a busy, well established workshop serving a diverse mix of customers, from everyday drivers to boating charters.
They are seeking a Senior Mechanic who brings broad hands on experience across motor vehicles, motorcycles, outboard motors, and other small engines. What you’ll do:
Diagnose, service, repair, and overhaul a wide range of engines and related systems (gasoline/diesel engines, electrical and electronic systems, fuel and cooling systems, transmissions, and hydraulics)
Work primarily on motor vehicles with accuracy and efficiency
Plan and prioritise repair and service workflows with the Service Manager to meet customer timelines and quality standards
Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and safety checks; issue clear, technically accurate reports and recommendations
Support diagnostics using modern workshop equipment and hand tools; identify parts and ordering needs in a timely manner
Mentor and guide junior technicians, sharing knowledge and best practices
Uphold safety, quality, and environmental standards; maintain a clean and organised work area
Communicate effectively with customers, providing transparent explanations of issues, options, and costs
What they’re looking for:
Demonstrated experience as a senior mechanic with broad hands-on expertise in motor vehicles, motorcycles, outboard motors, and small engines
Strong diagnostic and repair skills across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
Ability to read and interpret schematics, service manuals, and technical specifications
Excellent problem solving and decision making abilities; attention to detail
Effective communication and customer facing skills
Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work well within a small, busy team
Relevant trade qualification or certifications; current qualifications preferred
Willingness to work in a tropical island environment and adapt to local customer needs
Valid driver’s license; boating and marine experience is advantageous
