McConnell Dowell is seeking an experienced Site Manager to lead on-site delivery for projects based in Rarotonga. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys being close to the work, leading teams, and ensuring construction activities run safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
You’ll play a key role in coordinating site operations, managing people and resources, and supporting the successful delivery of projects in a unique island environment.
About the Role
As Site Manager, you will have responsibility for the day-to-day management of construction activities on site. You’ll ensure works are delivered in line with the programme, project requirements, and McConnell Dowell’s safety and quality standards.
You’ll work closely with the Project Manager, Engineers, Supervisors, and subcontractors to keep the site running smoothly and productively.
Key Responsibilities
Manage daily site operations and construction activities
Lead site teams and subcontractors
Ensure all works comply with safety, quality, and environmental requirements
Coordinate resources, materials, and plant
Monitor progress and manage the construction programme
Conduct site meetings, pre-starts, and toolbox talks
Identify and manage risks, issues, and site constraints
Ensure accurate site reporting and documentation
Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and local partners
About You
You’re a strong, practical leader who thrives in site-based roles.
You will ideally bring:
Extensive experience in a Site Manager or senior site leadership role
Strong knowledge of construction methodologies
Proven ability to manage people, subcontractors, and programmes
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
A proactive, safety-first mindset
