Te Aponga Uira (TAU) wishes to appoint an Electrical Engineer.

Te Aponga Uira (TAU) is a government-owned utility responsible for generating, distributing and retailing electricity on the main island of Rarotonga in the Cook Islands. As such TAU is dedicated to delivering reliable and sustainable electrical energy to the community of Rarotonga.

The position reports to the Chief Engineer and the CEO as required the role is responsible to assist with the development, maintenance and operations of the power system on Rarotonga. 

The role covers responsibilities in both the Network and Generation division, with responsibilities in TAU’s Renewable Energy development.

This is a hands-on position; the successful applicant will have excellent time management and problem solving skills with the ability to forward planning, providing technical support and guidance to operational staff, assisting in troubleshooting and resolving issues on the system.

The successful applicant will need a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from a recognised institution with a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience in the utility or energy sector, proficiency in engineering software tools, such as AutoCAD for design and analysis,along with an awareness of industry trends regarding alternative energy generation.
