Autism Cook Islands are seeking an Autism Specialist to provide specialist input on our programmes,support people with autism, and assist family and support networks to gain skills and confidence.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide strategic oversight and specialist input into our established play-based therapy programme
    to develop communication and social interaction skills.

  • Grow the Transition programme, which will provide training and employment skills and opportunities
    for students with Autism

  • Provide professional development sessions to teaching staff to broaden their understanding of
    autism and skills for teaching a child with autism and inclusion in the classroom and playground


Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in behaviour analysis, psychology or a human services-related field, such as social
    work or human services.

  • Specialist knowledge of:
    - Pediatric language development, autism theory and practice, early childhood development, learning and behaviour for typical and atypical children.

  • Minimum 5 years of full-time equivalent experience working with children with autism.

  • Ability to work effectively with families and children across a diverse range of settings and circumstances.
